Group Brochure Project: Outline
The topic for this project will be ways humans can reduce their carbon footprint and aims to bring awareness to environmental pollution on Earth. The three brochures the group will create will focus on three main areas of greatest environmental pollution: water, land, and air. Not only do these issues impact the Earth, they impact humans and their health, and if humans do not come up with a sustainable solution to these issues, the quality of human life will decrease significantly, leading eventually to humans not being able to call Earth their home. These are pressing issues that have a long-term impact on the Earth and everyone and everything that lives on it, which is why this was the perfect topic for the brochure project.
As stated above, the three main areas of pollution are water, land and air. In each brochure, there will be descriptions and statistics about the impact made on each area, helping depict how drastically the quality of all three has changed over the years, and how humans can make little changes to reduce this impact. The brochure will have images, both photographic and digitally designed, to help the reader of the brochure understand the impact making the suggested changes would have, and how the world is drastically going to change if nothing is done about it. To keep with the Earth theme, the main colors for this project will be ‘earthy’ so to speak, as in blues, greens, browns, oranges, and reds. These colors help the viewer understand immediately which brochure they are using; for example, blue should trigger subconsciously that the person is looking at the water related brochure.
Most people don’t understand the impact pollution has on the Earth unless they see it firsthand where they live, or understand the impact that pollution has on human health unless they experience it themselves. Awareness needs to be brought to this issue, otherwise Earth will not survive, humans will not survive, no species will survive. Just because the impact we see or feel now may be minuscule now, does not mean it is not extreme in other parts of the world or will be extreme in the years to come.
There isn't a dropbox, as mentioned in Wednesday's lecture : )
ReplyDeleteEnvironmental brochures - one student designing a brochure for awareness to water pollution, the second student designing a brochure for awareness to air pollution, and one student designing a brochure for awareness to land pollution – is a great idea! Having the color palette with earth colors and tones supports the topic. Make sure to use a color that is contrasting to make text or a graphic pop.
Friendly reminder: EACH student is designing THREE brochures - keeping in mind to use the thumbnail guide (PROJECTS / BROCHURE GROUP PROJECT / COM322_BROCHURE_THUMBNAIL_SPECS.pdf)
